Fully Accepted

“But who are you, a mere man, to talk back to God? Will what is formed say to the one who formed it, ‘Why did you make me like this?'” Romans 9:20 HCSB
“But God proves His own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us!” Romans 5:8 HCSB

We are often hardest on ourselves. We see both our best and worst and tend to focus on the worst.

This mindset doesn’t serve us well. It limits our effectiveness in our own lives and the lives of others. It’s also not fair to God, Who created us to be unique individuals with special gifts and talents to share.

Sometimes, others cause us to doubt our worth. We may have been harmed by someone and the memories make us struggle to see past their comments when we look in the mirror.

We may feel disappointment or regret for our past actions. We will make mistakes, but those don’t make us unworthy. We can put our flaws in perspective while working to improve them.

Let’s take time to pray and reflect on what Jesus says about us. He chose us (Ephesians 1:4). He died for us on the cross and He rose again (Romans 8:34). He will never leave us or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). Ours sins are removed as far as the east is from the west (Psalm 103:12).

When we know how much we are accepted by our Savior, we can begin to fully accept ourselves.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, it’s hard for me to see myself as You see me. I focus on my flaws and forget what Your Word says about me. Please help me remember that I am Your child and valuable in Your eyes. Thank You for Your promise to love me always. In Christ’s name, Amen.

Journal: In what areas are you struggling to accept yourself? Look for Bible verses that show how valuable you are to the Lord.
