What's your perspective today?
The Bible encourages us to think about our future home in heaven. The apostle Paul often talked about being motivated by his heavenly home. Hebrews 1 1 is full of examples and admonitions which are written to encourage us to persevere so that one day we will win the reward of eternal life. Though Hebrews 11:4 recalls the story of Cain and Abel and is written to instruct us to give offerings to God in faith, it ends by reminding us that Abel is alive in heaven. The next verse says Enoch went straight to heaven, never having experienced death.
Whether you are past, present, or future oriented, the Lord wants us to understand that this life is but a vapor. Our time on earth is short, but then our spirit lives on for eternity…not a hundred more years, a thousand more years, or a million years, but for all time! We have only brief season on earth to trust Christ and allow the Spirit to prepare us for an eternity of serving and worshiping Him. We also have but a short time to tell others about Christ. Let the activities of your daily life reflect your belief that life is eternal and we only have a short time on this earth. Let each moment count for His eternal Kingdom purposes.
