Imagine you were one of the women followers of Jesus during his three-year ministry on earth. What would it be like as you heard his teachings, walked by his side, and watched his ministry?
Dear sister,
These days have been very encouraging. When we arrived in Galilee, everyone welcomed us. Honestly, it was hard to leave Samaria after just two days because the new followers were so hungry for us to stay. They soaked up Jesus’ every word. I am sure we will see some of these men and women again. I gave the Samaritan woman who Jesus met at the well a big hug. She was truly a changed person. She plans to meet with some of the others to pray and study the Scriptures.
When we went to Cana, we were met by a royal official whose son lay sick in Capernaum. He begged Jesus to come to his home and heal his son who was close to death. Instead of Jesus going with the man, he told the official to go alone for his son will live. If it were me, I would have continued to beg for Jesus to come with me, but the official took Jesus at his word and departed. Later I learned that his boy was healed at the exact moment that Jesus declared “your son will live.” When the father realized that Jesus’ spoken word from afar healed his son, he and his whole household believed in Jesus.
Sister, the miracles that Jesus performs are truly supernatural. My faith grows more each day.
However, Jesus sobered me a bit when he said: “Unless you people see miraculous signs and wonders, you will never believe.” I fear that I would not have been like the official who took Jesus at his word. God’s knows that we are a people full of doubts. I pray that Yahweh will give me greater faith, so I will not question His Word or His Son.
Growing in faith,
your Big Sister
Today’s Bible Reading: John 4:43-54
Today’s Application:
Pray and ask the Lord to give you greater faith to take Him at His Word.
Come to the Lord with any needs that you have. He wants to hear your requests. Know that He is listening. Trust Him to hear and answer according to His timing and His ways.
“Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask Him!” (Matthew 7:9-11).
