I Have Found The One

Sometimes I am hesitant to write that the answer to life’s problems is in knowing the love of God because this seems too simplistic. However, I know that in fact, this is the truth. However, the struggle is in being able to connect with a transcendent God in such a personal and real way. Pick up your Bible and read through the Song of Songs, seeing it as a book that not only describes the beauty of a marriage relationship, but is also a description of Christ’s love to us, His bride. The bride invites her lover to lead her to the banquet hall with his love (Song of Songs 2:4). It is not hard to understand why the bride eagerly seeks after her husband in Chapter 3 and 5. She even goes out after dark in search of him throughout the city which is a risky and dangerous thing to do. But the Bridegroom’s love is so fulfilling that she is consumed by him. This beautiful romance is reciprocated as her Lover is captivated by her. “You have stolen my heart, my sister, my bride; you have stolen my heart with one glance of your eyes, with one jewel of your necklace. How delightful is your love, my sister, my bride! How much more pleasing is your love than wine, and the fragrance of your perfume more than any spice!” (4:9-10).

We all long for this kind of intimate love. The movies and romance novels tell us that it can be found in a boyfriend or husband. This results in us placing unrealistic expectations on a man to fill all our longings. But no human can do this. God placed in us these longings to be accepted, pursued, delighted in, romanced, adored, cherished, prioritized, valued, protected, and filled with a sense of belonging, so that He could fill them. Like any relationship, this cannot happen unless we take the time to be with Him. This requires prayer, meditation on His Word, and sharing our thoughts and concerns with Him throughout each day. Learn to bring your needs to Him and take time to be silent and still to allow His Spirit to minister to your heart. Be brave enough to invite the Lord to be the Lover of your soul. The Lord has led Solomon to share this love story in the Song of Songs, as well as many other Scriptures so that we can understand that we are His bride and He wants to woo us with His passionate love! Invite the Lover of your soul to romance you today!
